Quick Install Guide

This is only a quick guide, for more detail on each plugin, please refer to the help section.

To Install FilmConvert you must download the free trial of the software first.

Once you purchase your license key, you can then use the FKV file to get ride of the watermark.

GET STARTED WITH FILMCONVERT

  1. Download your software of choice from www.filmconvert.com
  2. Apply FilmConvert to your footage & play around with the settings to create the best look for your film.
  3. Once you’ve purchased your license we will email you an FKV file. Download this from your email, open your editing software and apply the code.
  4. Export your film and share with everyone!
Steps for installing:

FilmConvert Adobe Premiere Pro & After Effects Plugin

  1. Download and install the latest Adobe Premiere Pro / After Effects plugin available. Once downloaded, the plugin will be sitting in your downloads folder. Double click to start the installation and follow the instructions given by the installer.
  2. Download the .fkv file that is attached to your purchase email to your Desktop.
    Note: If you are only trialling this software skip step 2 & go straight to step 3. Your footage will have a FilmConvert watermark on it until you purchase your license.
  3. Open Premiere Pro / After Effects, create a new project (or use and existing one), import some media and drag onto your timeline (Premiere) or a composition (After Effects).
  4. If in Premiere find the Effects tab. In After Effects, find the Effects menu item.
  5. Go the Film Emulation category, which currently has just one item FilmConvert. Drag the effect onto your media. You will now see some color changes, grain and FilmConvert water marks on your media!
  6. Browse to the .fkv file that you downloaded earlier to remove the watermark and activate your plugin.

Steps for installing:

FilmConvert Final Cut Pro & Motion Plugin

  1. Download and install the latest FCPX plugin. Once downloaded, the plugin will be sitting in your downloads folder. Double click to start the installation and follow the instructions given by the installer.
  2. Download the .fkv file that is attached to your purchase email to your Desktop.
    Note: If you are only trialling this software skip step 2 & go straight to step 3. Your footage will have a FilmConvert watermark on it until you purchase your license.
  3. Open up Final Cut Pro or Motion & create a new project, or open up an existing project. In the case of a new project, import some media, and drag it onto the timeline.
  4. The next step is application dependent:
    • In Motion find the ‘Library’ tab, then the ‘Filters’ category.
    • In FCP X, find the ‘Effects’ browser.
    • In FCP 7, go to the ‘Effects’ menu item, then the ‘Video Filters” category.
  5. Go the ‘Film Emulation’ sub category, which currently has just one item ‘FilmConvert’. Drag the effect onto your media. You will now see some color changes, grain and FilmConvert water marks on you media!
  6. Browse to the .fkv file that you downloaded earlier to remove the watermark and activate your plugin.

Steps for installing:

FilmConvert OFX Plugin

  1. Download and install the latest OFX plugin available for your operating system. Once downloaded, the plugin will be sitting in your downloads folder. Double click to start the installation and follow the instructions given by the installer.
  2. Download the .fkv file that is attached to your purchase email to your Desktop.
    Note: If you are only trialling this software skip step 2 & go straight to step 3. Your footage will have a FilmConvert watermark on it until you purchase your license.
  3. For more information about how to use Color, Film & Camera Controls, please refer to the OFX plugin within the help section.
  4. To activate your plugin and remove the FilmConvert watermark you must start your OFX host application and apply FilmConvert to your media.
    • Once you have access to the FilmConvert controls, open the Purchase parameter group, then click the Activate License button.
    • Once pressed, you will be presented with a new Window, FilmConvert Product Registration. Hit the Load License File button and browse to your FKV file.
    • Open the FKV, and your plugin will be registered!

Steps for installing:

FilmConvert Avid Media Composer Plugin

  1. Download and install the latest Avid MC Plugin installer for your desired operating system. Once downloaded, the plugin will be sitting in your downloads folder. Double click to start the installation and follow the instructions given by the installer.
  2. Download the .fkv file that is attached to your purchase email to your Desktop.
    Note: If you are only trialling this software skip step 2 & go straight to step 3. Your footage will have a FilmConvert watermark on it until you purchase your license.
  3. Open Avid Media Composer, create a new project, or open up an existing project. In the case of a new project, create a new sequence, import some media, and drag it onto the timeline.
  4. Open the Effects Palette window.
  5. Go to the Film Emulation category, which has the item FilmConvert Pro. Drag the effect onto your media. You will now see some color changes, grain and FilmConvert water marks on your media!
  6. Browse to the .fkv file that you downloaded earlier to remove the watermark and activate your plugin.

Steps for installing:

FilmConvert Photoshop Plugin

FilmConvert for Photoshop is currently only available on macOS
  1. Download and install the latest Adobe Photoshop plugin available. Once downloaded, the plugin will be sitting in your downloads folder. Double click to start the installation and follow the instructions given by the installer.
  2. Download the .fkv file that is attached to your purchase email to your Desktop.
    Note: If you are only trialling this software skip step 2 & go straight to step 3. Your footage will have a FilmConvert watermark on it until you purchase your license.
  3. Open up Photoshop and import some media. Click on the Filter menu item and go down to the Film Emulation category. Select FilmConvert... the FilmConvert GUI will open up.
  4. To the left you will see the proxy window, and to the right, the Image Controls. You can now apply the changes to your image. Form more detailed information on how to use the controls, please refer to the help section.
  5. While in the proxy window you can now activate your plugin to remove the watermark . You will find the Activate button above the proxy window and to the right. Click it to open the FilmConvert Product Registration window. Hit the ‘Load License File’ button & browse to your FKV file. Open it, and your plugin will be registered!
