THE 4th annual Fittest in Israel competition-A.K.A "Ready For Action" has took place on April 24-25th at "Elite Sports Center" located inside the Tel-Aviv University.

85 competitors, chosen after the CrossFit Open served as preliminary, came together to battle it out for the title - Fittest in Israel.

xxxxx offers an insight into the craft and work of the immensely talented London based British designer/artist Alkesh Parmar who turns discarded scrap materials into amazing sculptures of lights, this short film explores Alkesh's practice, presenting the work of his recent project - Celebration Chandelier. His work often utilises banal everyday objects, most of the time these materials are discarded after use such as the champagne corks used for this chandelier. “The notion of recycling is an important part to my practice, however this is not my prime objective.” The central point of his work is light and the relationship it shares with the objects. The corks are hollowed out and outfitted with LED bulbs, programmed with circuitry which then customised to various interiors including restaurants, bars and homes. Each cork is hand crafted into individual lamps and grouped together to form a neutral, warm and beautiful chandelier. --- Designer/Artist: Alkesh Parmar Directed &

Last year, we visited a theme park celebrating America’s mythic Wild West in wintery Sweden that became a welcoming home for refugees fleeing the Syrian civil war: vimeo.com/melfilms/highchaparral As strange as that sounds, this was a pretty good deal for about 500 people looking to start a new life. But with global political winds shifting toward isolationism, the Wild West response to a refugee crisis only lasts so long. We went back to see how the West was lost.

Episode 5 of Rough Hands took me on a roadtrip from Brisbane to the ACT, to meet Karim Haddad. A CEO turned bladesmith, who now runs a nationally acclaimed knifemaking business and training academy. Karim invited me to stay on his property where I camped in my van and took in the amazing landscape and sense of peace that Tharwa Valley offers. One of the reasons I love creating this series is that I get the chance to travel around the country, spend time with, and pick up wisdom from other creators. The conversations I had with Karim were incredibly eye opening for me. One quote that stood out for me during his interview, really echoed the way I feel about being a filmmaker and creator: “People often talk about work life balance, and I think that’s the wrong way to describe it. I sat down with Portland based film photographer Ryan Muirhead and we spoke about Depression, Anxiety, Suicide, and his journey into becoming the well known photographer that Ryan is today. Making this documentary style interview film with Ryan was a moving and much needed experience for me. I got into film making to connect with people and share stories to help eachother, along the way I lost my direction and hit a huge emotional challenge, but it was needed, I needed to stop and look at my map. Ryan tells an insightful story about his journey through depression and his daily battle with anxiety in this film, and we learn a lot more about what means to be Ryan Muirhead. Ryan is driven by photography and especially film photography helps him cope through his challenging times. Talking, Hanging, Filming with Ryan and making this film helped me to reconnect with my passions and meanings. Whilst Rio de Janeiro is renowned for its carnival, Latin America has a range of distinctive carnivals and traditions, often inspired by political history. Candombe is a Uruguayan form of cultural expression with roots in colonial slavery. Originating as a parody and mockery of slave masters, it is a proud statement of rebellious spirit and freedom, and an important celebration of Afro-Latino culture and pride. Samburu Moran is a comparsa (candombe troupe) from the small town of Fray Bentos on the Argentine Uruguayan border. Having qualified to compete at Montevideo Carnival for the first time the film captures their preparation and parade performance as they compete against 45 comparsas from across the nation.

Self-Made is a documentary about North Carolina artist Martin Kampitch. Through his self-developed, blue-collar style, he has created works of art from metal that are infused with passion and spirituality.

Seoul, which became the capital of Korea in 1394, is a living city itself where diverse people and cultures coexist. There are many artists who are not yet known but working with their own beliefs. Seoul X Unknown Artist Project will be a digital film archiving project that introduces those artists and their works and beliefs. Hyeyeon Lee, an illustrator and painter, was born in Seoul and studied illustration in San Francisco. She returned to Korea in 2018 and is currently working as a freelance painter.
