By GRAHAM NAUGHTONIn the mini-doc "The Csikós - The last Wranglers of the Hungarian great plain", Jeroen Cox captures and shares the lifestyle of the Csikós, a group of hungarian horse wranglers who proudly cherish their traditional lifestyle. Although the community is proud of their heritage, the lifestyle is harsh and lonely, making it hard to find a new generation of Csikós. Ádám, Csaba and Lajos, some of the last wranglers of the hungarian great plain, give an insight into their days on the puszta, their close bond with their nonius horses and what it takes to be a Csikós. "The Csikós - The last Wranglers of the Hungarian great plain" was made as a part of the "Circles of cultural connection" project by the Jimmy Nelson Foundation.
By Jeroen CoxLook around, Open your eyes. Listen to your mind, hear what it says. Take hold of it, embrace it, This is your one life. The Finish Line is a short film that uses conventions of advertising as means to communicate an ideology to the millennial generation. Since taking a year off from University and working in commercial photography, I developed my own unique outlook on life. This has come from my belief that people become too content with their place in life. They create a ‘finish line’ in their head and once they are there they settle for what they have. People become content with living their life going from point A to point B. We instead should always be on a path of self improvement no matter where we are. This can be translated into future career prospects, fitness, skills, everything that you have a set goal for already. We should not be living our life looking forward to the finish line, it is irrelevant. The journey, the grind, the process is what you need to learn to l

They visited a blind school, feeding program for widows and orphans and a hospital in addition to spending a Sunday with sister church, Kafita. Music native to Malawian spiritual culture provides the soundtrack. The film recognizes that the truest gift comes from those who have little to give.

By Nikola ŽivicThis is a film for my family, The Deckers. Every Thanksgiving our family, all 23 of us, get together in Northern Pennsylvania and decorate my Grandparents house for the Christmas season. Their house is placed on a mountain side and is viewable from 81. At night it lights up the hill and is a sight for many people driving down the highway. People make the trip out just to see their house. Its always been a special part of my childhood and last year rather then helping with the lights I decided to film it all. I then sat down with my Poppy, Roland Decker, and recorded him telling me about how this all started, on my iPhone. As we all get older and life gets more hectic, looking back, I really cherish all the seasons where our whole family was able to gather together. This video is for them.

By rhoni JaefarTHE LOWEST PLACE ON EARTH - The Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth in any land mass (417 meters below sea level, to be exact). The quantity of water that evaporates from it is greater than that which flows into it, such that this body of water has the highest concentration of salt in the world. It is called the Dead Sea because its salinity prevents the existence of any life forms in the lake.

Poveglia has had a VERY tumultuous history. Its first residents arrived in 421 AD after trying to escape the barbaric invasions of Venice and around the 9th century, the tiny island became densely populated and grew in importance. It later became the turf on which many wars were fought against the barbarians and while most were won, Poveglia's residents had to be permanently displaced in 1379 by the Venician government so it could fortify and use the island to counter the attacks of the Genoans. When the bubonic plague hit Venice in 1348, Lazzarettos (quarantine centers) were established on many small islands including Poveglia to try to contain the pandemic. The Black Death revisited Venice in 1462, 1485, 1506, 1575-1577, and 1629-1631. The 1629-1631 outbreak ended up being the deadliest with an estimated 80,000 deaths in just seventeen months. The islands surrounding Venice were becoming dump sites where victims were thrown into grave pits. Those who simply displayed symptoms didn't

By Cainã MorellatoI love the sense of mystery you can discover in the quieter and less traveled corners of a city. The sidestreets and alleys. The doorways and the storefronts. And of course, the graffiti and looming skyscrapers that seem to appear no matter how far you drift off the beaten path. Even in Manhattan, you can still find these quiet, little spots, especially after dark when there are less bodies to cross your frame. Despite the title, there were actually TWO islands in the video, since I the opening daylight shots were done in Williamsburg. Everything else was filmed in Manhattan over several days in late August and early September.

When she finally resurfaced, it was with a story of a deeply affecting relationship, and of the strength it took to find herself again. Sydnie always struck me as so confident, and quick, and funny, and it was moving to hear how vulnerable she had been. We made this wee micro-documentary as a way to celebrate her and her return.

Being inspired by the boats and their markings, the story grew once I met John Booker, a local fisherman. John’s weathered ‘nothing defeats me’ attitude gave me inspiration to create this short film showing the effort it takes him to get the boat to the sea and gives an insight to his long standing connection with the deep blue.
By Alan StockdaleThis film is an intimate exploration of my Dad's obsession with college football during a single Notre Dame season. When making this film I wanted to explore his motivations behind tradition, passion and ritual. What starts out as a simple documentation turns into a character study. Throughout this study I was able to explore our father/son connection and how football has been a main source of bonding between us. This project has allowed to me to have a greater respect for what people choose to be passionate about and how that passion affects the people around them. What resulted is a film that is a dedication to sports fans, Dads, or both.
