Goose barnacles are filter-feeding crustaceans that live attached to hard surfaces of rocks and flotsam in the ocean intertidal zone. This video shows the risky conditions that local people have to face every day in order to catch this crustaceans! Shot in South Portugal featuring the Shellfish Gatherers Association from Vila do Bispo.

I recently moved to Sandpoint, ID and wanted to begin making documentaries on some of the creatives that live here. Nicole Black was my first choice. I wanted it to really portray her bright personality, and the detail of what she does. I used a ton of tight shots so as to be able to get up close and see the beauty and fine detail of her art.

After 28 years working as a Mountain Rescue, my Father retired. This is a short documentary about his career, his experiences and about a job of which the details are not well known to many. The joys of having a job that was more a passion than work, the strong bonds made over the years, but also the risks and the emotional impact of some of the missions. So, here is a short and condensed piece about a career that is, to me, extraordinary; of a humble and courageous man that I call my Dad.

I recorded this one shot video with the Rainbow Girls in November of 2016. We wanted the video to be an intimate performance with an "old photo album" look that the FilmConvert Provia provided so nicely. With its warm, neutral, almost wooden feel brings you into the performers space. I wanted this video to be primarily to be about the performance, music, and art direction. Hopefully leave it as "Raw" as possible. But I love color! So I shot it in a "flat" picture profile Slog3 Sgamut3 knowing I could bake in the color later with some tasty FilmConvert and gain a little extra dynamic range by doing so. I recorded the music on a Zoom H6 using a Sterling Audio ST-69 condenser mic and preamp with no post manipulation, just gain trimmed at the recorder. I hope ya'll enjoy. Keep up the excellent work. xxxxx offers an insight into the craft and work of the immensely talented London based British designer/artist Alkesh Parmar who turns discarded scrap materials into amazing sculptures of lights, this short film explores Alkesh's practice, presenting the work of his recent project - Celebration Chandelier. His work often utilises banal everyday objects, most of the time these materials are discarded after use such as the champagne corks used for this chandelier. “The notion of recycling is an important part to my practice, however this is not my prime objective.” The central point of his work is light and the relationship it shares with the objects. The corks are hollowed out and outfitted with LED bulbs, programmed with circuitry which then customised to various interiors including restaurants, bars and homes. This film is a visual invitation into the kitchen and playgrounds of Sven Erik Renaa at his Michellin restaurant RE-NAA in Stavanger. It showcases the interplay between the local nature and the resourcefulness of the chefs as they transform the local produce playful and often surprising ways.

Last year, we visited a theme park celebrating America’s mythic Wild West in wintery Sweden that became a welcoming home for refugees fleeing the Syrian civil war: vimeo.com/melfilms/highchaparral As strange as that sounds, this was a pretty good deal for about 500 people looking to start a new life. But with global political winds shifting toward isolationism, the Wild West response to a refugee crisis only lasts so long. We went back to see how the West was lost.

"Return-Top" is another term for yo-yo. It's a skill toy that not a lot of people are aware of but, is slowly growing in popularity. Some yo-yoists consider it as a sport, some as a collector's hobby but, it has evolved through the years to the point where professional yo-yoists can actually start making a living out of it.

I was honored to be asked to make a full length video to showcase the Santa Cruz Skateboards team. This is a segment from the video featuring Santa Cruz local Mikey Curtis, which starts with a night-time scene at one of the world's oldest skateparks, Derby, in Santa Cruz, CA. Because all the classic Santa Cruz videos were shot on film, Film Convert Pro was the perfect tool to give a nod to the golden days. I also used some old VHS cameras on various shots to add a special touch to the film.

We began our expedition of this mystical land, hoping to purify the mind and discover a place of authentic peacefulness. In what can only be described as the movie event of the summer, Tiddly Films present ‘Saving Private Lion’ - an action-packed WW2 mini-epic, which is quite clearly based on a true story (hmm!) First we see a fictional dramatised account of the D-Day landings, followed by a calamitous attempt at a re-enactment of the former at the Aberystwyth Charity Raft Race in 2017 using Go Pro action cams. Filmconvert was used to try and match the look of the Go Pro footage to that of the Blackmagic Camera (which was graded using Da Vinci Resolve), achieving a bleak, WW2-movie look.

This is a short film showing the incredible light and landscape of some of the Scottish mountains and lochs. Driving around Scotland in a van is an experience that surpassed expectations, even though they were high to begin with. The reason for the trip was a location recce for an upcoming short film project, it's safe to say we found some stunning locations. We only had 6 days, it just wasn't enough, there is so much to see and I just wanted to stop and take it all in.
