By Luis QuijadaOver a year ago, Music & Arts began developing its very first brand commercial. With big ideas and little resources, we kept circling back on the phrase "Hold On." To us, in relation to music, it had multiple meanings. On one hand, it was quite literal: Hold on to your instrument. On the other hand, it was wonderfully etherial: Once music takes hold of your life...hold on! Music changes everything. Satisfied with both meanings, we set out to tell that story using only hands. Over the course of 4 weeks, we were fortunate enough to shoot at a multitude of Music & Arts retail locations, with a handful of music students at Berkeley Springs Highschool in WV, and at the prestigious Strathmore Music Center in Bethesda, MD. Finally, bookending the piece, is a simple story of a father, a daughter, and the power of holding on to one's very first musical instrument. Not only does music change everything. It enriches as well.

By Benjamin VillacrezThis movie is a part of my bachelor exam art project ”Muskler, maskiner och kvinnokroppen, i en spegel av glas” (Muscles, Machines and the Female Body, in a Mirror of Glass).
My main material is glass and in this project I have worked with glassblowing, tecnique and alternative representations of the female body, using glass blowing and my own body as starting points. I have registered my muscles using muscle sensors while blowing the glass objects seen in this movie. I have then used specially written software to convert the sensors’ measurements into three-dimensional shapes which I have then recreated in blown glass. The new objects (the mirrors) manifest the body as actions and the work of muscles. The body shapes the glass and the glass craft shapes the body. We are influenced by how bodies are represented.
This movie communicates my thoughts behind the glass objets in my installation, and together the objects and the movie makes the story complete.

By Philip LondonMy Brothers' Blood is a project aimed at championing manhood through stories, photos and film. The goal is to shine a new light on what it takes to be a man through individual stories; to empower men through shared communication; and to support a healthy, balanced idea of manhood and masculinity through community. This is the first in many video interviews to come. You can find out more about the project at mybrothersblood.com. There you can find photo interviews as well as contact information if you're interested in being a part of the project.

Meet Gregory and Aleana, Mr. and Mrs. Conroy, and this is their gorgeous wedding. I'm grateful that they trusted my to shoot their wedding video and I must say; I'm very happy with how it turned out! It was a beautiful moment to capture and I learned a LOT about shooting weddings. One of those things? It takes a LOT of time, both on the shooting day and 20 some-odd hours in the cutting room ediiting away. I'm glad I did it, because I'm very proud of what came out of it!
By David ZhouMy grand-aunt Mimi asked if I could help her share the story of her life. Something like this is impossible to give justice in an 8 minute piece, but all I can hope is that the enormous amount of life that she had in her soul is apparent to all of those who watch this. I was fortunate to be able to finish the film and travel back to Washington in early July to show the film to Mimi at her beloved cabin on Whidbey Island. Unfortunately, a little over a month later Mimi had a sudden illness followed by a stroke with several complications, she passed away on September 26th, 2016. In this moment, Mimi would prefer us celebrate her life, rather than be saddened by her death. So, here's to Mimi! I hope this film encourages those who see it to take a moment and capture a story from one of their elders on whatever media is available. The worth of these stories is invaluable and life can take sudden, unexpected turns. Love you Mimi.

For as long as I can remember, I have gotten an incredible amount of inspiration from watching people, especially dancers, perform. Music also is something that pushes me to action, even if I don't know what that action ought to be; it simply compels me to do something. Even though I'm not a dancer or a musician, I wanted to make a little film that could express my love of those things and share it with you. Many many thanks go to Olivia Conlin, who was the dancer in the video as well as the choreographer. She worked so openly and freely with me to make this thing happen, and it was probably the best collaboration I've been a part of. I put her in pretty much every situation a dancer wouldn't want to be in, and she took every scene in stride. Never complaining or giving up; just awesome. The video was filmed entirely in Minnesota over the course of six months. The music is "Revival" by Ryan Taubert, and is licensed from The Music Bed. All rights to the footage are owned by me.

By Caleb GarrettI spent a hot, bug-filled, summer afternoon filming at my home in Wisconsin. Why? Because my (wonderful) mother is an ecologist and has a beautiful prairie. Some of this footage will be used for a film I am (hopefully) putting together for my mom's business. During the time of filming gnats were out in full force. They kept flying around and landing on my lenses, buzzing next to the microphone (which you can hear), and generally annoying the f*** out of me.
