The exploration of my own immigration from Bulgaria to the US and how we dealt with assimilation and the things that remain ingrained in our familial culture.
By SergeOver the last few months I've been caught between moments of great joy and moments of deep frustration. Being a creative and trying to find your way in this world has never been easy, and lately, it seems like there are a million ways to succeed or fail. At a time when I needed it most, a very wise friend shared this quote with me from Marianne Williamson: "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light

By David CareyA glimpse into another world. A world where the business of life fades away. Having the opportunity to enter the world of these gentle giants is both humbling and awe inspiring. The way these animals transform from their clumsy terrestrial selves into graceful, precise, creatures underwater is astonishing. You can never predict exactly what a pinniped is going to do next, but you can be assured that it will always grab your attention. Being a human chew toy is fun too.

Paradise Lost is a short film inspired by the Yemen refugee issue in Jeju island. Paradise can often be associated with a place of exceptional happiness and delight, and I am sure every day each one of us at some point during the day scrolls through their Instagram feed searching for the perfect vacation spot, and our own piece of paradise, where we can escape from all our troubles and the realities that surround us. Since the Yemeni refugees arrived on Jeju in April and May 2018, they have clearly found it difficult to integrate into the society but they are trying their best to fit in. We question the idea of what does paradise means. Is a place of beauty or is it something as simple as having a place to live? This short film was produced just 24 hours after another Saudi-led airstrike bombs down on a school bus killing at least 29 children. During filming one of the refugees, we met told us, “When I heard the news about the airstrike (on the 9th August) it was too p

I'm a big fan of Yann Tiersen, and in fact, I also have a few Philip Glass vinyls on the shelf. There's just something about repetitive, switching runs that makes your brain fill in the gaps. Lately I've been thinking about composing something that is reminiscent of Amélie or The Hours, AND film something to go with it (or maybe the other way around). As luck would have it, I found myself in Paris. Hopefully this track will do these great composers justice.
NO tripod, one lens, and a Black Magic Pocket camera, I decided to film five days in Paris - run and gun style - this is on purpose. There are some things I miss: the morning just after the streets were washed, accidentally finding a manicured garden... decorative building after decorative building... I miss you Paris.

PARIS.MACHINE.LOVE is a tiny short film on a moment of love and compassion between (wo)man and machine, filmed in Paris. The short film is about artificial intelligence and the first ATM/cash machine to gain consciousness - as machines become ever more evolved and connected to the world. The idea being it is that they are coded by men, in a language which is different from ours but would still allow for (human) error - or bugs. As opposed to the traditional view that intelligent machines would be 100% rational entities, this film takes into account human flaws as trait or characters that would be passed on to them. And so therefore the cash machine in the film assumes human-like behaviour and is prone to the same flaws and weaknesses. But the core message is that we don't know what machines will do in the future when they surpass our capabilities - and how we interact with them is likely to influence this as well. If we treat them badly, they might reciprocate. As per

These days, ‘expect more’ is how Pavel Khvaleev believes audiences should approach electronic music. And he’s spent the last dozen years raising those expectations. Composer, filmmaker, producer and a polymath-like range of other skills have resulted in the uniting of some of electronic music’s most striking sounds & images. On the surface, a spectacle for eye and ear, underneath it’s a swirling melange of deeper meaning, channelled through the avant-garde, meditative, metaphysical & psychological.
