Audience and performer coexist in an intimate and integrated space with as little separating instruments and ears as possible. No stage. Stripped down. Pure music love. Like having the performance in your living room (except, in this case, a sh*tty barn).

By Toby MackBorn To Move is a documentary featuring Brandon M. Girouard; professional dancer / choreographer. This short film serves as a window into the talented man that is sweeping the dance industry by storm. From broadway to the las vegas strip, now Brandon is starting to bridge the gap between domestic and international star. Shot in an entire day utilizing the Nikon D3200 Capion serves up a rich taste of edgy modern dance and the struggles of making it in todays dog eat dog world. Please remember to LIKE and SHARE! I spent a hot, bug-filled, summer afternoon filming at my home in Wisconsin. Why? Because my (wonderful) mother is an ecologist and has a beautiful prairie. Some of this footage will be used for a film I am (hopefully) putting together for my mom's business. During the time of filming gnats were out in full force. They kept flying around and landing on my lenses, buzzing next to the microphone (which you can hear), and generally annoying the f*** out of me.
This was shot on a Canon 600d using neutral picture profile. Canon Lenses: 50mm f/1.8, 16-35mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8. Aerial video shot using GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition recording in ProTune at 60fps (Narrow FOV)

Within the week of posting, my NYC test run of the new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera went north of 3k playbacks, seeming sensible now to complement with a split-screen comparison of the untouched footage straight from the camera, alongside that finished product after color correction/grading. I have no delusions of being a studio auteur, who could justify a braggart director's commentary, but after thinking about the option to write a long, wordy blog post, I figured it's easier and better all-around just to talk over my footage. It's a visual medium anyway, and I'm sort of surprised there aren't more of these. Would love to see yours, too.
The video streams by default in full 1080p high definition, so if you get jitters, click the HD icon in-frame to reduce your playback resolution. For reference, here's the original seven-minute film: http://vimeo.com/hpmoon/nyc. As I say at the end of this commentary, please add your comments below, and please share your work
[UPDATE: Also check out the split-screen "color commentary" on this at http://vimeo.com/hpmoon/bmpc.]
On August 29, there were just a handful of Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras (BMPCs) in circulation, but I managed to get one. That weekend, I took a visit to New York City as my occasion to break it in. Manhattan has been a limitless source of inspiration for people far more talented than me, but the Blackmagic technology, coming to market in such a versatile size, invited this cinematic tone poem which might, even so, look different. Instead of creating something like a tourism video, I wanted to try and capture the human energy of the city that New Yorkers themselves know best, driven by the extraordinary music of Richard Danielpour that I came across recently (ringing in my head all weekend as I captured these shots).
True to the elegant simplicity of the BMPC (http://bhpho.to/bmccpckt), I shot the entire piece handheld, using a single lens (Panasoni

Sound Thief is the first of a series of mini-documentaries featuring independent musicians based in four cities. This one features Jivraj 'Jiver' Singh, drummer for Pinknoise, and electronic percussionist. Born to parents who lived life on the road and made music, music was not so much a glamorous externality as much as a way of life for Jivraj. Watch us as we talk to him about his personal experiences and how they've impacted his music, as well as show you a lesser known musical fascination of his.

Wanted to get back to basics. So whilst wandering around Southwark, London I shot some scenes with just my camera and a 50mm Prime. All hand held, no fancy stuff here. There's something about just shooting with no extra gear or stuff to worry about other than exposure and focus. Enjoy.

By Greg HarrisThis summer I took the opportunity to make with my girlfriend and family a four-day trip to Edinburgh, Scotland.
For me it was more a trial-trip. on another occasion I will spend more time in Scotland, because in the short time I have not seen to much of the country. Anyway we enjoyed every minute including making Scottish Tattoos (I was spared), lots of whiskey, Guinness and good food (Haggis).
we spent three days in the city and walked from one end to the other. for one day we rented a car to see something of the scottish nature and surroundings. The whole short-trip was wonderful.

Once again a woman contemplates her murderous past. Calling upon the help of a mysterious companion, she seeks absolution of her tortured soul and warped reality. Seeking forgiveness, these ideas manifest into sinful pride to the horror of her victim. Perhaps not all recurring nightmares are an unwanted evil.

"Lock 5" reworked to emulate Fuji H400 Pro film stock. Has an interesting look.
By Marty HardinThis is a piece I did a few months ago. I ran a couple of tests with FilmConvert. I pushed the grain to emulate a reticulated stock. I really liked the look of it, but the compression programs didn't like the grain. I output the highest quality I could, but I will be interested to see what Vimeo's compression engine will do with it....
