Paradise Lost is a short film inspired by the Yemen refugee issue in Jeju island. Paradise can often be associated with a place of exceptional happiness and delight, and I am sure every day each one of us at some point during the day scrolls through their Instagram feed searching for the perfect vacation spot, and our own piece of paradise, where we can escape from all our troubles and the realities that surround us. Since the Yemeni refugees arrived on Jeju in April and May 2018, they have clearly found it difficult to integrate into the society but they are trying their best to fit in. We question the idea of what does paradise means. Is a place of beauty or is it something as simple as having a place to live? This short film was produced just 24 hours after another Saudi-led airstrike bombs down on a school bus killing at least 29 children. Documenting Hatem Kalaoun's story as an immigrant to America, a successful small business owner, and a father, has been a passion project for his son, Abraham, ever since college. For the past three years, we've discussed and imagined how we'd film his dad--we just needed the right opportunity! Finally, when we returned to Rhode Island in July 2018 after living in Georgia for a year and a half, we were able to film at the garage, and also interview Hatem to hear from him firsthand. In 2018, we traveled with our camper through Chile from North to South. This video is the last part of the trip when we got to Patagonia in the middle of winter. It was cold but it was extraordinary. The wilderness of Winter Patagonia is something we won’t forget anytime soon. Most of the time it was just us and the mountains, the pumas, the guanacos and the huemules (endangered Chilean deers). On a recent trip where I would typically spend my time skiing, I took the time to get into the back country and explore the mountain regions at a slower pace. It meant a lot of strenuous hikes and climbs but the serenity and beauty of this wondrous environment more than made up for it.

"When the Land Calls" was inspired by the work of photographer James Ravillious, who in the 1970s and 80s documented the fast disappearing rural life of North Devon. One of his subjects was farmer Bill Strawbridge. Today Bill's grandson Ed farms the same land. The film follows Ed through his day on the dairy farm and as he looks back at Ravillious's photographs of the farming life in the years before he was born. Earlier this year "When the Land Calls" won the Arri/Director's UK Challenge - to film, edit and deliver a three minute film on the subject of Millenials in just three days using an Arri Amira.

A Return to Nature brings much more than a literal breath of fresh air. The figurative refreshment that comes with embracing the natural world is often more powerful than any tangible feeling. While skiing is our main reason for traveling, travel offers us much more than just another powder day. It refreshes our souls by allowing us to be vulnerable and reconnect with the natural world and those who inhabit it.

Filmed primarily in Lebanon, this short documentary explores how Syrian Refugees, and other disadvantaged people, are using a cloud-based tool to securely store documents to share with universities and scholarship agencies.
