It's not often that weddings look beyond the horizon, to something bigger, something more than even two madly in love could contain. It's rare, but not impossible. Such is a Christian wedding at its purist. In a deeply surprising and yet practical way, the Bible says that marriages points at the cosmic, capital 'M' marriage of Jesus and the believers that make up the Church. As a man of faith, a leader at my church AND a wedding cinematographer I happily celebrate weddings from faiths across the board. But every once in awhile I am refreshed by a couple of whom I share this deep conviction - that the day is about them - of course it is! - but it's about so much more.
By Toby MakA short documentary I made of my friend Ammar who works at the deli down the street from me.
By Richard Cjust some clips I put together when I took my gap year between highschool and college.
By Richard CA little back story to how Rene Magritte found inspiration to paint his famous paintings.
By Richard CEvan Murphy sneaks into his grandfathers shed and discovers a whole world of trinkets to play with and get lost in his imagination, including his grandfathers rally car.
By Barry FahyThe Rest was written and composed by Andreas Scholl's and Tamar Halperin's friend Ari Frankel. Opening wiping ceramic tiles, a 5-part song cycle for countertenor and piano, the ex-Israeli American was inspired here by his Polish-born artist parents, and by Italian chemist and writer Primo Levi. The structures of these prayer-like poems are deceptively simple: they are not easy to perform well. In The Rest, it is actually the voice carrying the piano along, with far-reaching lines.
By Andreas SchollAbout the couple: This is a story of paths crossing, from Guatemala to Spain. When you have two people who are passionate, considerate and loving, it's a moment that you won't forget when you see them decide to take the journey together and not apart. About the film: While creating the film, we had the privilege of recording their proposal in Lago Atitlan in Guatemala, as well as the wedding and reception. So having access to these moments really opened up the edit to a non-traditional story. We wanted this wedding film to show the interconnected stories that a wedding can have. We also wanted the music to complement the location as it’s near an active volcano. We also graded the film with FilmConvert to breathe life into the footage.

By Jevgenij TichonovNo matter where you are in Hobart you are never far away from the City’s beloved mountain, kunanyi / Mt Wellington. An extensive network of walking and mountain bike tracks are great ways of exploring the mountain, taking visitors past waterfalls, through fern glades and gullies, and opening up great views of Hobart and on good days the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. I acknowledges the Tasmanian Aboriginal People as the Traditional Owners and ongoing custodians of lutruwita, Tasmania. We pay our respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and to their Elders past, present and emerging.
By Lopes SezaboOur friend Jes is a talented photographer who happens to be a beekeeper on her spare time. She asked us if we wanted to come and film her bees. We then decided to turn this into a little doco. This was originally prompted by the fact that bees were recently declared the most important living beings on this planet. Thus was filmed in the Blue Mountains, close to Sydney, Australia.

By Leonid SmithThis is a film about an inspirational young man. Johnny Botton has faced challenges that many could not even contemplate. His journey through foster care, living with cerebral palsy and overcoming the prejudices that come with these, have made Johnny a role model and example to many. Johnny used to visit our family on respite for holidays. It was always obvious that his upbeat, compassionate and positive outlook on life was going to guide serve him well. My own children and foster children regard Johnny as a surrogate brother, and it was inevitable that I would do a film about Johnny at some point.

By Charles T.The Recovery Mission is a 3-piece instrumental prog-rock band from El Paso, TX. Over the course of the band's 15-year life-span, not once did they ever put out a music video. We here at Subharmonic City Productions got together with the band to finally break this streak. This video was made specifically for the FilmConvert Short Film Competition. The video was originally going to be in black & white, but seeing how amazing Film Convert made the color footage look, there are now 2 versions.
