[HAS HEART] is a non-profit that seeks to rehabilitate wounded veterans through the use of creativity and design. They partner artists up with veterans to help tell their stories through a creative outlet and produce merchandise to share their design/story with the world. This specific video focuses on their most recent collaboration with artists/veterans based in Detroit, Michigan.

A film I directed/shot/edited for a 48 hour film competition, produced by and featuring an actor workshop I work with regularly. An entry in the FilmConvert Cinematography Competition.

091 is a classic band from southern Spain. They have released an album after 20 years and have accompanied it with this music video. From the beginning, black and white and a cinematic texture seemed the most appropriate to represent the aesthetics and philosophy of the band, so FJ Neo was the most reasonable option to do so.

I was trying to see how much I could cram into a minute long narrative. The film needed to include five shots of unaltered clocks reading 11:48 per the rules of a weekly community film challenge game I participate in.

Originally a concept for a "60 Seconds" project - where 1 second is 1 shot . It evolved into 100 Seconds (I liked the number over sixty), but I couldn't find music that I liked at 1 second intervals. 100 Seconds became 100 Notes, but in this particular piece there are 121 notes, but with 120 with Marg and 1 of black at the beginning.

I'd been trying to get this project done since before the summer started, but I could never get it to work, or really look, the way I wanted it to, after three different shoots.

Randomly saw a Philip Bloom (https://vimeo.com/philipbloom) blog about FilmConvert (http://philipbloom.net/2013/07/28/filmconvert/), and decided to give the demo a try. I really liked it, and decided to work it into this 120 Notes project.

I completely reworked the sequence shots from my earlier attempts, and decided on the Polaroid 600 film emulation.

This is a film about stepping away from the 9-5 lifestyle, the benefits of scaring yourself, and about connecting with nature to find meaning in everyday life.

The film follows three mountain bikers riding the legendary Kokopelli Trail in the high mountain desert; a place they’ll find is often unpredictable and unforgiving, but one that reveals lessons for those who explore its lonely landscapes.
