The Hamburg-based choreographer Yolanda Gutiérrez takes the audience with her on a corporeal and architectural research trip into the HafenCity, where streets are still named after the “conquerors” of the “New World”. Nowhere else is the lasting legacy of colonialism for the “Hansestadt” so apparent. On a walk that is also an audio play, performers from Dar es Salaam and Hamburg portray how their individual experiences and biographies reflect German-Tanzanian history.

Walking the thin line between romance and trespass we have to ask ourselves: Don´t we all call things good, because we secretly want to do them? Go ahead and find the rhythm of your love. And give me the death that I need. Baby. The film explores the topic of the female dead body and how it is shown on screen: exposed, conventionally attractive and sexualized despite its lifelessness. Growing increasingly frustrated with this passive depiction, the director chose to revive the dead woman, so she could speak her mind and regain some agency.

Nowadays its a forbidden and dangerous place to visit because of the high concentrations of Arsenic, Lead, Cadmium and several other pollutants in the zone.
