If you care for someone with Alzheimer's disease or dementia, you’re dealing with the loss of a person you loved while you also come to terms with the person that remains. Loving that new person by letting them have their space and dignity is perhaps the hardest and best thing that you can do. This is for my dad - his past, present and future versions.
